I joined a cruise server the other day just to see what it was like.... it was the most exciting 5 minutes of everyone parked at random locations around the track with nobody chatting and nobody driving... I don't understand how those are the most populated servers...
Going faster comes over time is all, you'll eventually hit a certain speed and time you won't be able to beat due to limitations in the car settings. The only thing that will improve your times @ that point is to adjust the settings such as longer gear ratios for higher top speed on long sections or adjust the suspension settings to allow you to take corners faster. Keep in mind that entering a corner faster is not as important as exiting the corner faster which is what will lead to lower lap times.
I came across LFS's posts on CNet and thought it needed an update seeing as there were only 2 posts, one from 2009 with version z25 that was unrated with no screen shots and these stats which would be much higher and should be ranked in the top 10 at least...
Total downloads: 23,406
Downloads last week: 197
Product ranking: #34 in Driving Games
... and the other post was from 2004, a patch for version 0.3g, but the stats shows that people actually still download it which is somewhat surprising...
Total downloads: 26,107
Downloads last week: 58
I wrote a review on the z25 download page about version 6b just so its at least somewhat up to date but I'm sure if more info were added there such as an updated version of the game and screenshots that LFS would gain more users meaning more money for you guys.
No DDS converters? No Photoshop? No Problem!!! You don't need any of that crap anyway to edit DDS files, simply download Paint.net and watch the brief tutorial video and in less than 5 minutes, you will be able to edit DDS files with ease! Be sure to make a backup copy of your DDS folder BEFORE editing anything just in case it's needed. Enjoy everyone!
Wow and I thought the sites I worked for had drama...
Guys... we only see a very small portion of whats involved in moderation on any site you go to. Many people notice the people being kicked or banned, but hardly anyone really notices how much work is required helping users and what kind of issues mods & admins really face on a day to day basis.
They have to deal with users that are pissed off for being banned from servers which isn't their fault, they have to help people find solutions to bugs they come across which again isn't their fault most of the time, and in general they have to do all of this with a smile while being insulted yet they are not allowed to talk back.... It's hard trying to stay positive when people are angry with you over things outside of your control.
The people that moderate this site and any other site are usually volunteers and do this on their own free will with little to no benefits other than they get to help people. Expecting them to be perfect when in this situation is not exactly fair to them not to mention a bit much to expect out of anyone really seeing as nobody is perfect.
Aftermarket shift knobs are usually attached by rotating the knob (the screw-on type knob), and others by allen keys like Momo shift knobs that require a small allen key wrench to tighten bolts that secure the knob to the gear shift stick.
If cheerio was warned about what he was doing and still did it anyway, not much can be done as it was his choice to do it. In the big picture, he'll live guys... lol
It is nice of you to help others and there are people that appreciate it. LFS needs to hire you, Madcat, and Rhama as Beta Testers to find these kinds of bugs so they can patch them as it seems you guys know LFS pretty well.
I'm not sure how LFS works in detail but I think MadCat means LFS was looking for something it needed but since it couldn't find it, it crashed. Once LFS is given the proper memory address, it will know where to find what its looking for.
The future of any successful venture is to expand and grow, without that it is impossible for anything to advance. I don't understand why LFS has such a great system and doesn't have more people on a programmer's level that are allowed to develop for LFS and distribute the workload amongst each other.
Rome was not built in a day, and it sure as heck wasn't built with 2 or 3 people. In that same sense, LFS as great as it is should consider taking on more developers.
Yeah you can use either of those but in the forums and in the game, a lot of players talk about KPH or use KPH, and in the middle of racing its hard to think of how fast 228kph converts to MPH for example. Also if I tell someone I'm driving 128 MPH, many don't understand and ask for KPH number. lol
Nearly every country uses the meter system (millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers, etc.) which makes sooo much sense... and here in the US we use some weird system of Miles, feet, inches, and none of it is easy to convert. It also makes LFS a bit harder when everything is in KPH and I'm used to MPH. :arge:
I wouldn't advise using cracks for any program, let alone LFS. Your best option to getting back in multiplayer mode:
1) completely uninstall & reinstall LFS on your computer
2) you have a certain amount of "unlocks" per week, I think it's like 2 or 3
3) unlock S2 by entering your unlock password, the same you set @ LFS's website when you first bought the game
If it still doesn't work, hopefully someone here can help. Good luck mate!
http://LFS-Search.webs.com - It's specifically designed to help locate more relevant threads and even hard to find content as trying to find things in the LFS forum is hard due to the size of it plus the forum search engine doesn't always locate what you're searching for.
Of course you can but will it work and is it strong enough to take the forces applied to it without breaking off the hub are the questions you should consider.
A steering wheel can be made out of anything round, or square, or any shape as long as it is within the same size as the original and will operate in the same movement range a normal steering wheel has.
Here's what you do:
1) Get an aftermarket steering wheel hub for your car, momo is a good one
2) Take a piece of paper, make an outline of the hub, then poke holes where the screw holes are on the hub into the paper (your template)
3) Place template as centered as you can onto your desired steering wheel then mark the holes.
4) Drill holes into the center part of the wheel you want to use to match the holes on the aftermarket hub
5) Attach the hub to steering column first using center locknut, then screw on the wheel you just made to the hub
...and you're done. This is the same method you have to do when you buy a brand-new untapped racing steering wheel, same process. It will work.
Imagine what LFS would be like if the same amount of effort on tire physics was applied to other parts of the game. As much as I do appreciate the game the way it is now, I think too much focus has been spent on trying to perfect the way tires will react in the game and it has consumed way too much time that could have been spent on developing other things. It feels as if in the game, the tire lifespan is like 1/10th of how long an actual tire will last and mostly focuses on how the tire looks while in motion.
Endddd long time no seee I found this earlier and showed it to Weed, it's back during 42D Drift Wars. I missed those tracks but thankfully found them on an old post Weed made.
lol no worries as plenty of people are on there are much worse than that but your friend was definitely the funniest one for actually pressing Shift S... xD
